No. You can enter and explore the cemetery for free on your own. However, a guided tour helps you navigate the massive 127-acre site and provides historical context.
General admission is completely free for independent visitors. If you prefer a guided walking tour, expect to pay around $35 for an adult ticket.
The audio tour is inexpensive but requires downloading an app. Several travelers report technical difficulties with the setup process. See self-guided audio tour for details.

Highly recommend. Sally is super knowledgeable and engaging. The cemetery itself is beautiful.
Our cemetery tour with Sally was the highlight of our trip. Her knowledge and passion for New Orleans cemeteries, burial rituals and broader cultural insight taught us so much. Looking forward to booking a tour with her in another cemetery or attending one of her events in the future.
My spouse and I really enjoyed our tour with Glenn. He is very knowledgeable about the cemetery's history and does a great job bringing its stories to life. His enthusiasm for the subject is evident throughout, and we appreciated the fascinating details and historical context he shared along the way. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
